Job duties included fiscal responsibilities, financial reports, accounts payable transactions, audit, record, reporting, reconciling, and tagging over 3000 state owned assets. Those assets were used in 110 offices by 700 employees. Additional assigned tasks were troubleshooting telecommunications problems, negotiating copier leases, equipment purchases, office relocation, property management, bid collections, rent and utilities payments. Software programs such as Asset Works and Edison were used daily. Provided oversight on transition from Comdial telephone systems to VoIP (PC-based) system in statewide offices. Reconciled nine years of inaccurate asset audits within agency. Also resubmitted an entire fiscal year of financial reports (3314 Excel documents). Beginning salary was $35,280, ending salary was $43,060.

An entrepreneurial small business grew into a successful, established delivery and messenger service. Effective management encompassed budgets and strategies, organized human capital with customer logistics, directed and evaluated employee performance into profitable results. Strong emphasis was placed on legal document filing, process service, food delivery, interoffice medical records, and routine errands for various clients. Within twenty-three years Courtesy Courier Service, Inc. handled over 300,000 confidential packages worth $30 million, without loss or damage. Aside from daily delivery operations, experience was gained in assessing retirement plans, benefits packages and tax policy. When largest client hired couriers for in-house deliveries, client list was sold to a competitor (Green Fleet Messengers of Nashville, Austin Bauman principal: 615 463-0602). Tasks and responsibilities included managing and leasing residential properties in the Memphis, Atlanta, and Denton (TX) markets. Properties ranged from 114 to 350 units including a successful sale of Garden Oaks (Memphis) to Timmons Properties, and exceeded 95% leased rate on all other portfolio properties (Winding River Village in Sandy Springs GA, Bingham Court in Atlanta, and Holly Hills in Denton TX). Other duties included hiring personnel, documenting and supervising maintenance work orders, preparing and leasing vacant units, marketing, formulating budgets, and designing grounds for curb appeal. In 1986 tax law changes altered the structure of property management industry. Jacques-Miller and Harvey Freeman and Sons are not in business, and supervisors cannot be located. Jogging, cycling and golf are current recreational pursuits. College participation included interscholastic (NAIA) national cross-country and track finals. Recent achievements include participation and completion of 2009 Boston Marathon, men's overall winner at 2009 Nashville Ultra Marathon 60K (37.3 miles), and 50 miles finisher at 2010 Keys Ultra, Florida Keys.
